Fourth Internatioanl Conference on Environmental Education
November 24-28, 2007, Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad, India
The Conference will be a forum to show that Education works, to make it a part of decision-making, and scale it up. It will be a platform for sharing of practices and learnings; exchange of ideas and information on ongoing and planned initiatives in the field of Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) the world over. The Conference will highlight partnerships between the two fields, discuss the role of EE as a Champion of ESD and deliberate on partnerships with several other disciplines / organizations.
The Conference will bring together participants from all over the world which include educators from the field of environment, health, water and sanitation, human rights, gender, peace, citizenship, social justice and others, civil society /NGOs, corporates, academics, and media, government officials and representatives of UN agencies. Working Session Themes have been developed based on DESD perspectives and will be crosscutting.
 
 
Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2006

Following the tragic earthquake that struck Yogyakarta on the morning of 27 May 2006, the BAQ Organizing Committee conducted an assessment of the implications for the BAQ 2006 preparations. In a recent meeting of the BAQ Organizing Committee, the City of Yogyakata, the Province of Yogyakarta, the State Ministry of Environment, and CAI-Asia reconfirmed their commitment to host the largest regional meeting on urban air quality in Asia this year, in Yogyakarta..
The BAQ 2006 workshop , which had originally been scheduled for 13-15 September, will now take place on 13-15 December 2006. Read the official press release.
 
 
Global Environmental Change: Regional Challenges -An Earth System Science Partnership Global Environmental Change Open Science Conference

ESSP is organizing an Open Science Conference in Beijing, 9-12 November 2006, to present progress in our understanding of the natural and social systems of global environmental change and to highlight the ESSP approach to the study of the Earth System.
CONFERENCE THEMES:
Earth System Science Approach: New advances in studies of the physical, biogeochemical, biodiversity, and human dimensions aspects of global environmental change.
Science for Sustainability: Global environmental change research relating to carbon, food, human health, and water; as reflected in the ESSP Joint Projects.
Integrated Regional Studies: The dynamics, impacts and consequences of the interactions between natural and social systems at regional scales, including extreme events, and how they connect with global-scale phenomena.
Global Change in Monsoon Asia: Global environmental change research in monsoon Asia.
 
 
Third International Conference on Climate Impacts Assessment (TICCIA)

Recent progress in understanding and predicting climate on timescales from a month to a century, combined with a growing understanding of impacts of climate, provides opportunities for vigorous cross-disciplinary research and applications with the important societal goal of reducing vulnerability to climate variations and change. The Third International Conference on Climate Impacts Assessment will review our current level of understanding in climate impacts research and assessment and new methods for assessing vulnerability and for building resilience and adaptive capacity both around the world and with a focus on the Pacific basin. The overarching conference theme is: Climate Impacts Science: Improving knowledge for adaptation
 
 
India, Climate Change and the CDM -Emerging legal issues under the international rules and domestic law

The seminar will include presentations and open dialogue on:
・recent developments under the international climate change regime -particularly around the review of mitigation commitments and developments post-2012;
・legal aspects of institutionalising the CDM in India;
・legal and contractual issues of relevance to project developers and investors looking to enter into sale and purchase agreements for carbon credits from CDM projects; and
・the type of domestic law issues that can impact on the implementation of CDM projects in India, including renewable energy regulation and its interplay with the CDM.

Third Meeting of Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Non-Annex Parties
The last meeting of CGE in Manila, Philippines, discussed the finalization of the CGE work programme for the period 2004-2007, and modalities for cooperating with other expert groups established under the Convention and the National Communications Support Programme of the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility, the 3rd Meeting of CGE will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 2nd to 3rd of December 2004.
